NASA astronauts in private hands

NASA will not build the ships to take their astronauts to space. The US space agency has just announced the multimillion-dollar contract that it has awarded Space X and Boeing companies to transport cargo and people to the International Space Station (ISS, for its acronym in English).

Far away are the years of the space shuttles that have remained more in memory for the serious accidents they staged than for their service to space science.

The goal to stop relying on Russia and its Soyuz aircraft to bring astronauts to the ISS is still alive at NASA headquarters. But the responsibility now lies with private companies.
